Former Leeds Midfielder Reunites with Michael Skubala
The transfer marks a reunion between Greenwood and Michael Skubala, who previously worked together during their time at Leeds United.
Greenwood began his football career in Arsenal’s youth academy before completing a move to Leeds in 2020.
During his spell at Elland Road, he made 35 senior appearances across all competitions. Including 18 matches in the Premier League during the 2022-23 season.
The midfielder also gained valuable Championship experience through loan spells with Middlesbrough and Preston North End. Further adding to his development before moving abroad.
His experience across England and Poland has made him a versatile option capable of playing in several attacking and midfield roles. He now arrives with greater maturity. Aiming to make an immediate impact and help Bristol City achieve its objectives this season.
Skubala Backs Greenwood to Make an Impact
Michael Skubala believes Greenwood has the quality and determination to make a significant contribution at Ashton Gate.
The Bristol City head coach described his newest signing as a player with exciting potential and praised his versatility across multiple positions. Skubala emphasized that Greenwood should be viewed primarily as a midfielder despite his ability to contribute in attacking areas.
“He’s a really exciting talent,” Skubala said. “He’s not a striker, he’s a midfielder. But he’s a 24-year-old that probably has a point to prove that he can still get back to the Premier League, so he’s hungry.”
The manager also highlighted Greenwood’s considerable senior experience despite his relatively young age.
“But he’s also played almost 250-300 games at senior level. Not only is he a talent. Not only is he going to add to that unit and be competitive with that unit as well.
As the club’s first signing of the summer. He is expected to play an important role as the Robins aim to build a competitive squad capable of challenging higher up the table under Skubala’s leadership.
