Young Right-Back Gains Valuable Loan Experience

Primarily a right-back, Lavery joined Sunderland’s academy at the age of nine and progressed through the club’s youth ranks.

Last season, he spent time on loan with NIFL Premiership side Cliftonville before joining National League outfit FC Halifax Town later in the campaign.

During his spell at Halifax, the defender made nine appearances across all competitions. Gaining valuable experience in senior football and becoming familiar with the demands of the National League.

His performances during those loan spells convinced Gateshead to offer him a permanent move as they continue to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season.
