theglobalsun – National League side Eastleigh have completed the signing of former Wales international Jonny Williams on a contract until the end of the season.
The 32-year-old midfielder joins Eastleigh after spending the previous three seasons with League Two club Gillingham. During his time there, Williams made 106 appearances across all competitions and scored three goals.
Williams began his professional career with Crystal Palace after progressing through the club’s academy. He eventually made his Premier League debut and established himself as a regular option before gaining further experience through several loan spells.

The Welsh midfielder spent time with Ipswich Town, Nottingham Forest and Sunderland during temporary moves to the Championship. Those spells gave him valuable experience at a high level of English football.
Williams eventually left Crystal Palace permanently in 2018 when he joined Charlton Athletic. He later moved to Cardiff City in February 2021 before switching to Swindon Town six months later.
Across his club career, Williams has made 403 appearances and scored 23 goals. His experience also extends to the international stage, having represented Wales 33 times and scored twice.
One of the highlights of his international career came at Euro 2016. Williams was part of the Wales squad that reached the semi-finals of the tournament in France.
That campaign remains one of the most memorable moments in Welsh football history. Wales progressed through a difficult group before defeating Northern Ireland and Belgium in the knockout stages.
Williams also remained involved with the national team in subsequent major tournaments. He was selected for the Wales squads at Euro 2020 and the 2022 World Cup.
However, he did not make an appearance during either tournament and remained an unused substitute.
Williams Brings Experience to Eastleigh
Williams now begins a new chapter of his career with Eastleigh, bringing extensive experience from the Premier League, Championship and League Two.
His arrival gives the National League club a midfielder who has played more than 400 senior matches at club level. His international background also adds another layer of experience to the squad. Williams made more than 100 appearances for the club before leaving at the end of his contract.
Eastleigh have now secured his services through the remainder of the season. The move gives Williams an opportunity to continue his playing career while offering Eastleigh an experienced option in midfield.
Having played for several clubs across the English football pyramid, Williams arrives with considerable knowledge of the demands of professional football.
His career has also included appearances at some of the biggest stages in international football. His involvement in Wales’ Euro 2016 run remains a particularly notable achievement.
At Eastleigh, Williams will now look to use that experience to help the club during the remainder of the National League campaign.
