theglobalsun – Tottenham forward Richarlison’s proposed move to Vasco da Gama has fallen through amid continued uncertainty over his future. Sources indicated that Tottenham had agreed a transfer fee with the Brazilian club for the 29-year-old.
However, personal terms reportedly became an obstacle during negotiations. The Brazilian transfer window closed on Friday night, leaving Richarlison without a move to his home country.

The failed Vasco deal follows another unsuccessful transfer involving Everton. Richarlison was close to returning to his former club on deadline day in a proposed £35m transfer.
That move collapsed after Tottenham and Everton disagreed over personal terms. Richarlison was subsequently left out of Tottenham’s Premier League squad.
Tottenham manager Roberto de Zerbi did not provide an update on the forward’s situation during his news conference on Friday. Richarlison is now understood to be exploring other options following the collapse of his proposed moves.
The Brazilian reportedly wants to be released from the remainder of his Tottenham contract. His current deal expires next summer, although Tottenham have an option to extend it for another 12 months.
Richarlison’s situation represents a significant change after he played an important role for Tottenham last season. The former Watford and Everton forward finished as the club’s leading Premier League scorer.
He scored 11 league goals last season, helping Tottenham avoid relegation. His contribution made him an important attacking player despite the uncertainty surrounding his long-term position.
De Zerbi Reflects on Richarlison’s Tottenham Situation
De Zerbi said he had spoken with Richarlison several times while attempting to persuade him to remain at Tottenham. The manager also acknowledged that the circumstances surrounding the forward’s exclusion were complicated.
“Richarlison is a good guy, a very good guy. I spoke with him a lot of times and I spent time to convince him to stay, but if you ask me, I know the truth,” De Zerbi said.
“I know what happened in the last month, the last 45 days, and it’s clear, but I’m not frustrated.”
The Tottenham manager stressed that he did not personally decide to leave Richarlison outside the Premier League squad. He described the situation as a consequence of circumstances that had developed over recent weeks.
De Zerbi expressed regret that the situation had not developed differently. He suggested Richarlison could have remained involved with the squad and potentially extended his Tottenham contract.
“I’m sorry because it could be different. Even the end of the story. It could have been better, or it was much better [with] Richarlison inside the list, happy to stay, maybe to extend his contract, because he is still an important player,” he said.
De Zerbi also highlighted Richarlison’s contribution during the previous campaign. However, he stressed that Tottenham must also consider events from the past several weeks.
“He was important last season, we can’t forget, but we can’t forget also the last 45 days,” De Zerbi added.
With the Vasco transfer now off, Richarlison’s immediate future remains unresolved. Tottenham must determine whether the forward will remain outside the Premier League squad or pursue another solution.
The club’s ability to trigger a 12-month contract extension also adds another layer to the situation. For now, neither Richarlison nor Tottenham has publicly confirmed what will happen next.
