theglobalsun – Sheffield United have signed former Crystal Palace and Leicester City forward Jordan Ayew until the end of the season.
The 34-year-old Ghana international joins the club as a free agent following his departure from Leicester City.
Ayew left the Foxes at the end of last season after Leicester suffered relegation to League One.

The experienced forward has earned 124 international caps for Ghana during his career. Ayew moved to English football in 2015 when he joined Aston Villa from French club Lorient.
He has since spent the past 11 years playing across the Premier League and Championship. His English career has also included spells with Crystal Palace and Leicester City.
Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder believes Ayew’s extensive experience will benefit his squad.
“We’re talking about someone here with bags of experience from right at the top level of the game,” Wilder told the club website.
“Only a few months ago he was captaining Ghana in the World Cup, so he’s someone with real pedigree.”
Wilder also praised Ayew’s performances in the Championship last season despite Leicester’s difficult circumstances.
“He did well at this level last season in difficult circumstances,” the Sheffield United boss added.
Ayew’s versatility was another major factor behind the decision to bring him to Bramall Lane.
“He has played all across the front positions during his career which gives us plenty of options,” Wilder said.
The forward can operate in several attacking roles, giving Wilder additional flexibility during the campaign.
His experience at the highest level could also provide valuable leadership within Sheffield United’s squad.
Ayew’s arrival comes after more than a decade of experience in England’s top two divisions.
The Ghanaian will now look to make an immediate contribution during the remainder of the season.
Sheffield United Send Two Young Players Out on Loan
Sheffield United have also confirmed season-long loan moves for two 21-year-old players. Defender Nils Zatterstrom has joined Polish club Rakow Czestochowa for the remainder of the campaign.
Midfielder Ehije Ukaki has also departed temporarily after joining Bulgarian side Botev Plovdiv. Zatterstrom has not made a first-team appearance for Sheffield United since joining the club last August.
The Swedish defender will now have an opportunity to gain regular playing experience in Poland.
Ukaki has also struggled to establish himself in Sheffield United’s first team since his arrival. The Nigerian midfielder joined the club from Botev Plovdiv in June last year.
He has made only one appearance for the Blades since completing that move. His sole outing came during a Carabao Cup defeat against Birmingham City in August 2025.
Ukaki will now return to Botev Plovdiv on a season-long loan. Both moves give the young players opportunities to gain valuable first-team experience elsewhere.

The departures also help Sheffield United manage their squad during the current campaign.
Ayew’s arrival provides Wilder with an experienced attacking option, while the loan moves support younger players’ development.
The contrast between the moves reflects Sheffield United’s approach to balancing experience with long-term squad development.
Ayew brings extensive Premier League and Championship experience to a squad seeking greater attacking options.
Meanwhile, Zatterstrom and Ukaki will aim to gain regular minutes and continue their progress away from Bramall Lane.
Sheffield United will hope all three moves prove beneficial as the season progresses.
