Hull City Move for Frankfurt Winger Bahoya Collapses

theglobalsun – Hull City’s proposed transfer for Eintracht Frankfurt winger Jean-Matteo Bahoya has fallen through after the player decided against joining.

The Premier League newcomers had reached an agreement with the Bundesliga club for the 21-year-old France Under-21 international.

Bahoya had also been given permission to travel to East Yorkshire for a medical. However, the player ultimately chose not to complete the proposed move.

The winger has previously attracted interest from several Premier League clubs. His performances in Germany have helped establish him as an exciting young attacking prospect.

Bahoya joined Eintracht Frankfurt from French club Angers in 2024. Since then, he has made 78 appearances for the Bundesliga side.

During those matches, the 21-year-old has recorded seven goals and eight assists. His attacking versatility has made him a useful option across the forward line.

Bahoya primarily plays as a left winger. However, he can also operate in multiple attacking positions when required.

His versatility would have offered Hull City another option in the final third. The Tigers had hoped to complete the deal after agreeing terms with Frankfurt.

Bahoya is also renowned for his exceptional pace. He holds the Bundesliga speed record after reaching 23.09mph during a match against Bochum in 2025.

That acceleration has become one of the winger’s defining qualities. Combined with his ability to play across the attack, it made him an attractive target for Hull.

Hull City Must Look Elsewhere After 13th Summer Signing Falls Through

The failed transfer represents a setback for Hull City during their summer recruitment campaign. The club had already reached an agreement with Frankfurt before the player’s decision ended the move.

Bahoya would have become Hull City’s 13th signing of the summer. His arrival could have added pace, creativity, and positional flexibility to the squad.

The winger’s ability to operate across different attacking roles could have provided Hull with additional tactical options. His experience in the Bundesliga would also have added another level of competitive experience.

However, the transfer required Bahoya’s approval before completion. Despite the agreement between the clubs and permission for a medical, he decided against moving to Hull.

The Tigers must now consider alternative targets as they continue preparing for Premier League competition. Their recruitment team will need to assess other attacking options.

Bahoya’s previous links with Premier League clubs underline the interest surrounding his development. His record at Frankfurt has also provided evidence of his attacking potential.

His Bundesliga speed record further highlights his physical qualities. Reaching 23.09mph against Bochum in 2025 established him as the competition’s fastest recorded player.

Hull could have used that pace to add another dimension to their attacking approach. However, the club will now have to find another player capable of filling the intended role.

The collapse also demonstrates the uncertainty that can remain during a transfer. An agreement between clubs does not guarantee that a deal will ultimately be completed.

For Hull City, attention now turns toward identifying another attacking reinforcement. The club must continue strengthening its squad for life in the Premier League.

Bahoya will remain with Eintracht Frankfurt unless another transfer opportunity emerges. His seven goals and eight assists in 78 appearances provide a solid platform for further development.
