Millwall Complete Long-Term Deal for Elkan Baggott

Millwall confirmed the signing after reaching an agreement with Ipswich Town, although neither club disclosed the transfer fee involved. The Lions also chose not to reveal the exact duration of Baggott’s contract, describing it only as a long-term agreement.

The defender progressed through Ipswich Town’s academy before making nine senior appearances for the club. While first-team opportunities were limited, he gained significant experience through a series of loan moves across the English football pyramid.

During his development, Baggott represented King’s Lynn, Gillingham, Cheltenham Town, Bristol Rovers, and Blackpool. Those spells allowed him to play regular senior football and develop his defensive abilities in competitive environments.

Returning to the Championship provides the Indonesian international with another chance to prove himself at a higher level. Millwall will hope his experience and potential strengthen their defensive options ahead of the new campaign.

Baggott also brings valuable international pedigree to The Den. Despite being only 23 years old, he has already earned 27 caps for Indonesia and established himself as a regular member of the national team’s defensive unit.

Steve Gallen Highlights Defender’s Potential and Profile

Millwall director of football Steve Gallen welcomed the signing and explained why the club identified Baggott as an important summer target.

“He’s a good age, has a real appetite to improve and fits the profile we look for defensively,” Gallen told the club’s official website.

His comments underline Millwall’s recruitment strategy of signing players who combine youth with senior experience while still possessing room for further development.

Baggott becomes the club’s fifth addition of the current transfer window as Millwall continues preparing for another Championship campaign.

His experience across several English clubs, together with his international appearances for Indonesia, gives him a strong foundation despite making only a limited number of senior appearances for Ipswich Town.

For Baggott, the transfer offers an opportunity to secure consistent first-team football and continue his development at Championship level. Millwall, meanwhile, will hope the centre-back can provide defensive stability, increase competition for places, and become an important part of the squad over the coming seasons as the club pursues its objectives in England’s second tier.
